OOC Information:
Name/Alias: Danni

IC Information:

Character Name: Kuroba Akito
Character Journal: This journal
Canon: Magic Kaito (Volume 1, chapter 3)
Point in Canon: N/A Pulled from his current time in the manor
Age: He was created 17.
Birthday: Still hasn't gotten one.

Appearance: His skin was styled after Kaito, but on close inspection there's something off about him..

Abilities: As a robot he was designed to be tougher, stronger, and faster than a human. Of course, as an amateur robot he is only partly each of these. Only enough to make it count. He was meant for an extensive weapons system, but the Author had disabled those, as well as likely removed them from his design. He can still use any manual weapon, and is capable of connecting to modern computer systems, though they would likely clash with his own somewhat out of date circuits. His memory is, on a good day, pristine, though with some damage it has been less than perfect. He has all of Kaito's skills at the time of his creation.

Personality: For all he may look and sound like Kaito, Akito acts nothing like him. He's an incomplete creation, since he killed his own creator before he could be finished, and as such as several serious flaws in his personality. the biggest of which being a broken or nonexistent moral compass. For him right and wrong just don't exist. His perception is such a pool of shades of gray that it's probably a miracle he managed to pass of as Kaito at all without immediately giving himself away. This leads to an inability to understand the concept of death. If a human dies he is 'broken' and needs to be repaired. Nor does he understand Kaito's motivations for being Kid. As a thief it is quickly apparent that he steals for the sole reason of 'because I can'. Not to mention this makes it very unlikely he'd ever return anything he takes. His flaws make him a very destructive personality. Without a care for life he will kill whoever gets in his way, which includes, as I mentioned before, the very man who created him.

Manor Update: After his damage, and Hakuba not only fixing him but giving him something to attach to while him memories reboot, Akito is quite a lot less homicidal than before. After all, a phantom thief does not kill. He knows he's not Kaito, and doesn't particularly want to be Kaito, but he has a lot of trouble understanding a lot of things that make humans work. Boundaries still don't really exist to him. He has obtained a rather extensive sense of self-preservation, and if he's threatened he could still very well turn violent, but his first instinct is to turn to the people who have helped in, as he thinks that if he's relied on them before they would be more than happy to lend a hand again. His trust is hard won, but absolute. He doesn't know any other way to be.

He's a bit lost as a person. He's still struggling with the damage to his memory system, and without someone to sit down and repair him he'll just have to try and live with it. He hates the idea of being human. He's done the organic thing a couple times and frankly having a heartbeat and all those sensations just freaks him out. He still carries many of Kaito's emotions, not having learned his own yet, which means both little things like the fear of fish, and the big things like the attachment to the idea of a father.

Because he's so lost, he's almost easy to manipulate if one knows what they're doing. He finds someone to latch on to and will almost follow them like a duckling, because without them he feels like nothing. His biggest fear is being disabled. He doesn't want to 'die'.

He still has a long way to go, but he's slowly making progress, and finally about to start down that path on his own two feet.

Strengths: He's a robot, herp derp. What strengths DOESN'T he have? No, I'm mostly joking. Akito can take a massive amount of damage without breaking down. His one vulnerability is the circuitry in his head which, if damaged, will shut him down as if in death. This may also damage his memory if it happens. He has intense weapons knowledge, thanks to his original purpose, though he no longer has such a big drive to use them. His reaction time is .04 times faster than Kaito's.

Weaknesses: He's a lost little boy inside his own head and he needs a purpose to latch on to. He could very easily latch on to the wrong people. He can often act without thinking. He's selfish, has absolutely no boundaries, and still doesn't understand humanity or why things are the way they are.

History: A long long time ago, in a series created decades back, a little boy had a dream. This dream persisted throughout elementary school, living on math notes in the form of doodles, and even took a small break in high school while the boy had a small stint on the student council committee. But the dream did not give up. It returned, with a vengeance!, when that boy entered college and saw a movie that reminded him of his math note doodles. And so he studied.

Finally that boy had become an older man, with the knowledge and ability to create his dream! And he worked for years and years to create the perfect robot with a brain to outdo all others. But when it was finally built to perfection it was missing one thing. A memory.

And so the man left his workshop on the lookout for the perfect memory. But no matter how hard he looked the people of Ekoda just weren't perfect. Then, one dark and rainy day (read: warm with a chance of cheery spring showers) a light shown at the end of his despair! A young healthy looking boy passed by, as if God himself had guided the scientist to be here at this second, walking with a spring in his step and a smile on his face. The scientist waste no time in talking to the boy and convincing him to join in his noble experiment for justice! (read: knocking the poor kid over the head and dragging him bodily back to the lab)

Before long the robot had a face, and a name, and a memory. He was Kuroba Kaito. He went to school, he was in love, and he had a dark secret. (read: mildly annoying secret) He was the feared (famed) Kaitou KID, scourge (not even close) of all the museums and private collections of all the world. (Half of Japan and one or two countries in Europe).

Of course, the man did not approve of his robot's new higher purpose, but 'Kaito' felt that he should be able to do whatever it was he wanted, having been created into those difficult teen years, and decided to run away from home (kill his creator and do what he wanted anyway).

He thanked the boy for his memories (tried to kill him too) and set off on his own to change the world. (steal ALL the things 8D)

Manor Update: The manor was hard on Akito. He lost his identity and gained a new one. Faced the ghost of his father and was forced to face the truth of his own mortality. He'd discovered what it was like to be organic and hated it. He'd broken, and been fixed to the best of Hakuba's ability.

But he saw a glimpse of what he could one day be and the knowledge that if he just tried hard enough he could survive this place is enough to keep him moving every day. He's different to what he once was, and no longer content to just follow his programming.

First Person Sample:

Data Entry 16:

Diagnosis: Mobility: 98%, slight stiffness in right elbow. Memory: fluctuating. 63-78%. Data still scrambled. Repair: Unknown.

The damage to my memory systems is still unstable. Repair is impossible within the system. Manual repair necessary. Unable to manually repair without information. Data keeps getting lost in transit.

...I'm going to need help, and the only one willing to help me is unable to get the information.

I don't know what to do. There is nothing in my programming that tells me what to do in this situation, Or...if there was there's nothing there now. It's a very intriguing situation, and one I wish that I didn't have to deal with. It's not fair. I feel almost...human, and that would be enough to turn my stomach if I had one to turn.

I don't understand what's wrong with me.

Third Person Sample:

Akito stuck his tongue between his teeth in concentration and fit his fingertips into the grooves just above his window. He was leaning half out of the manor, wind catching on his clothes as he put all his focus into his task. Electronic muscle shifted beneath his skin and within a second he had pulled himself out into open air.

It was no effort at all to catch his feet on the wall on either side of the window and propel himself upwards, hands finding crevices that very few humans would be able to 'feel', much less grip. He pulled himself methodically up towards the roof, swinging his body in just the right way to build up all the momentum he could possibly need.

The moon shone brightly as he made the tiles with a small leap, crouching and staring up into the sky. This wasn't an exercise he needed, like any human would in order to keep his skills fresh. Despite the faults in his memory he had little trouble remembering how to move. In reality it was something he did because he doesn't sleep. Sure, he could shut down for a few hours to pass the time, but shutting down would be too much like breaking down. Being a blank slate filled him with what must have been horror, and he recoiled from the memory (the only memory that's stayed perfectly fresh in his mind) every time his thoughts seemed to lean towards it.

No, instead he climbed the manor; learned its passageways and secrets; explored its grounds with the bravery once could only expect from those with truly little to fear. He stood on the edge of the roof, eyes wide; imagined a cape flowing around him with the wind and a cheering audience, and leaned into the abyss.

There was no fear. Not of this. Not of what he was born to do. Of what called to him with every breath and sigh of the world.

Akito grinned broadly and leaped.

Links: Akito's chapter is linked above in the canon section.
Notes: Booted directly from his last manor trip. He's never truly left. Just sort of been put in stasis when the author forgot about him. He wasn't being very 'fun' for her.
